Political poster, 1971 by Waldemar Swierzy
It is not necessary to listen in order to hear but it is necessary to look in order to see. The poster designer cannot count on the goodwill of the passer-by, he must therefore be as arresting as possible in his work. Aggressiveness and cheek are assets in posters. A poster must be visible to the passer-by against his will and it must act on every type of sensitivity. To express the subject, load and clear - this is the poster designer's only target. I should like to express ideas which are almost inexpressible graphically, like for instance Tuesday, regret, tomorrow, etc.
