My focus for this piece lied upon the graphic design elements and props. Outfitted during the 1960s, the main character was transfixed among a world of agoraphobia (fear of the outside world)... the design of the promotional film-poster incorporated the main character with his magazine—a mock-up derived from a photograph of the desolate 1951 Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe—with window reflections of a cityscape (the outside world) transfixed among the vast window reflections.
The two book-covers were graphically designed conducive to the era, while the all-American treat Cracker Jacks and camera company Minolta got wording ‘switched’. Subtle, ironic hints of prop labels (for the saw and glass-cleaner) became enhanced cinematically...
